Future Policing

Emergence of new technologies that support engagement and monitoring

The attitudes of the public towards police across the world are currently at an ebb. To change this perception and to remain relevant and connected to the communities they serve, police need to change their own behaviours, attitudes and practices.

This paper follows the journeys of three police professionals from Toronto Police (Canada), NSW Police, and Queensland Police . One presents a five-point strategy about how they changed public perceptions, another presents the case for convenient versus secure technology when it comes to law enforcement, and the third is a case study that changed policing. All three are about changing culture and attitudes to enhance trust and remain relevant and prepared for the future.
